Nu er det atter tid for Blogger's Quilt Festival og jeg tænkte, at jeg ville være med denne gang, så derfor foregår resten af indlægget her på engelsk.
I've enjoyed making mini-quilts for many years. I was inspired, like I expect many others have been after seeing this blog post from Wee Wonderfuls.
The inspiration for this particular quilt came when a friend told me about some drawings she had seen in a friend's home. They were tiny with a wide matte in square frames. That made me want to do something similar only in fabric.
So at first I had to find a motive which would then decide how the rest of the quilt would be when it came to colour and size. I did think of a very small block for the middle but after searching my stash for a while I realizes that it was difficult to find something as small as I envisioned (2½" x 2½") and it did have to be a bit bigger in order to be "visible". I ended up choosing a flower from a Kaffe Fassett fabric. And stayed with him when it came to the rest of the fabrics.
This is how the finished top looked. The border around the flower is a Kaffe Fassett shot cotton.
When it came to quilting I did a bit of thinking before coming up with what I thought was
the final idea. I used DMC and at first wanted to make small crosses in the border and on the flower. In the end I made small "rice" stitches in the border and crosses in the rest.
The quilt meassures approximately 12"x12". I made it in 2010 and it is still one of my favourites which I think turned out really well.
So this is my entry for the Blogger's Quilt Festival Fall 2014 in the Mini Quilt category. Hurry on over to see all the lovely quilts in the different categories!
